Getting started
It is widely acknowledged that alot of good work already goes on in schools to promote cohesion in the different dimensions of 'community'. Your work will be building on existing good practice.
Your school's approach should reflect the nature of the school's population and the community it serves, so contributions will differ from school to school.
The following ideas and resources will help you to organise your work and plan ahead:
- In the different folders of this section of the website there are Snapshots from which you will be able to find out more about the exemplary work of Northumberland schools who promote community cohesion effectively. If you would like to contribute to these folders, please contact Jane Walker or Gill Finch.
- There is a folder of Showcases which demonstrate in detail how community cohesion affects and benefits all areas of school life.
- The Teachernet case studies are available to download and print here.
-
The Institute for Community Cohesion is developing as a resource to support schools and is developing a library of case studies of good practice nationally. Northumberland schools appear in the current catalogue.
