Induction package
This EAL Induction Package has been developed in Northumberland schools and with Northumberland schools to support the induction of newly arrived pupils for whom English is an additional language.
The aim is to support schools to build their capacity to enjoy success with individual pupils. It is closely affiliated with the National Strategies and complements the recently launched New Arrivals Excellence Programme (NAEP).
The package will be introduced into schools by the Consultant for EAL, accompanied by central training as advertised in the School Workforce Development Programme.
The Induction Package exemplifies good practice but schools can use it at their discretion. It is strongly recommended that an induction interview is conducted and a language development plan is devised even if you do not use the pro formas in this package. Both of these documents will form the basis of the work the EAL Consultant plans for your school.
