Bilingual services
Translating and interpreting
itl is a North East-based provider of interpreting and translating services. The Cultural Diversity in Education team have agreed a Service Level Agreement with itl to support the work of the Local Authority and schools who have pupils on roll with English as an additional language.
itl has highly skilled translators, interpreters and bilingual teachers or teaching assistants who all comply with the Criminal Records Bureau assessments to enable them to work with young or vulnerable people. They are all obliged to sign confidentiality agreements to ensure the highest levels of professional service.
As part of the EAL Induction Package, Cultural Diversity in Education will pay for an interpreter to attend an induction interview. This will be arranged by Alison Hopper after receiving the interpreter request form.
The school can use the services of the interpreter for 2 hours, but should not request additional services such as translating unless the school is willing to pay for that service and has arranged it with itl beforehand.
Once the interview has been arranged, the business arrangement is then between the school and itl. If schools have queries or want to alter that arrangement then itl should be contacted directly and not through the Cultural Diversity in Education office. Please call Richard Collins on 0191 421 2221 who will be able to deal with queries from Northumberland schools.
Services can be provided in 83 different languages from Arabic to Zulu, and itl has a proved track record in the public sector including clients such as Job CentrePlus, crown courts and the Olympics 2012.
Schools can engage the services of itl at any other time, at their own discretion, by contacting itl directly on 0191 421 2221, or e-mail info@interpretingline.co.uk
itl also provide bilingual teachers and teaching assistants as part of their service.
Schools will benefit from the discounted Local Authority rate. However, the cost of itl’s services will be paid for by individual schools themselves.
