Curriculum

Equalities and diversity work can be embedded in all areas of the curriculum. The QCA Respect for All pages illustrate numerous examples across the key stages and subject areas.
MUNDI, based at the University of Nottingham have produced a resource file for primary teachers who would like to embed anti racist work in the curriculum. GARP, (Global and Anti Racist Perspectives) is available to order. The manual contains a curriculum map for the whole of the Primary National Curriculum, matched to QCA Units, which identifies Global and Anti-racist Perspectives within each one. It also includes a list of suggested resources and websites to support teachers with the inclusion of those perspectives.
A new resource, published in May 2008 is available for download from Teachernet. Right Here, Right Now aims to facilitate effective teaching and learning of human rights, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, within Key Stage 3 Citizenship. Whilst the resource is rooted in the key concept of rights and responsibilities, human rights also underpin the other key concepts - democracy and justice and identities and diversity - of the new Citizenship curriculum.
